The beloved Elephant-God, Lord Ganesha is known by several names, one of which is Vighnaharta, he who removes all obstacles. Worshipping Him rids the devotees of all their problems and worries. No auspicious deed and ceremony begins without invoking and seeking the blessings of Ganpati. He symbolises a new beginning hence revered before starting any new work. He is worshipped by one and all. He not only helps in overcoming obstacles, but also destroys vices such as vanity and selfishness.

Lord Ganesha in Astrology and Vastu

Offer Lord Ganesha boondi laddoo and modak, which are His favourites. He is also worshipped with durva (green) grass, sindoor, paan leaves, banana leaves and hibiscus flowers. He is the lord of Buddhi (intellect), Riddhi (prosperity) and Siddhi (spiritual power). Worshipping Him enables the devotee to acquire knowledge, wisdom and education. Lord Ganesha may be worshipped for overcoming problems related to Mercury and Ketu. The planet Ketu is appeased by worshipping Lord Ganesha. Wednesday is considered an important day for performing remedies and pujas related to Lord Ganesha. In certain regions, Ganpati is also worshipped on Tuesday.

Ganesha is given utmost prominence in Vastu Shastra. His presence in home and office is crucial to ward off negative energies which may arise due to certain Vastu defects. The swastika is considered Lord Ganesha’s symbol and therefore often used. One should ensure that the idol or image of Lord Ganesha has its trunk turned towards the left.

Lord Ganesha, the leader of all beings, is limitless and omnipresent. He is the destroyer of pride and arrogance. He removes all the worldly worries of His devotees and rids them of their internal mental tussle.
